FAQ
Everything you need to know before placing your order with Austin Embroidery Co.
GETTING STARTED
What is the minimum order quantity?
We keep our minimums low on purpose. For screen printing, the minimum is 12 pieces per design. For embroidery, we can do as few as 6 pieces. Have a smaller order? Reach out and we will do our best to work with you.
How do I place an order?
Start by submitting a quote request through our website. Tell us what you need, upload your artwork if you have it, and one of our team members will get back to you within one business day with pricing and next steps. No phone tag required.
Do I need to know exactly what I want before reaching out?
Not at all. If you have a general idea, a logo, or even just a deadline, that is enough to get started. We will help you figure out the rest.
What information do I need to provide to get a quote?
The more detail the better, but at minimum we need your product type, estimated quantity, decoration type (screen printing or embroidery), and any artwork you have. Deadline and budget are helpful but not required to get started.
Can I order both screen printing and embroidery on the same order?
Yes. Many of our clients do both on the same order, for example embroidered hats and screen printed tees for the same event or brand. We handle it all in house.
ARTWORK AND DESIGN
What file types do you accept for artwork?
We prefer vector files (.ai, .eps, .pdf, or .svg) as they give us the cleanest results. We also accept high resolution .png or .jpg files at 300 DPI or higher. Not sure what you have? Send it over and we will take a look.
What if I do not have print-ready artwork?
We can work with most logos and artwork even if they are not print ready. If your file needs cleanup or conversion, we will let you know. Simple fixes are usually included at no extra charge. Complex redesigns may have a small art fee.
Can you design something from scratch for me?
We are a decoration shop first, but we can point you in the right direction if you need a full design built from the ground up. Reach out and we will let you know what is possible.
Will I see a proof before my order goes into production?
Always. We send a digital proof for every order before a single stitch is made or a screen is burned. You approve it, then we produce it. No surprises.
How many revisions do I get on my proof?
We work with you until it is right. Most orders are approved on the first or second proof. If something is not looking the way you expected, tell us and we will fix it.
Can I see my logo on the actual garment before I commit to a full order?
For larger orders, we can discuss a pre-production sample. Reach out and we will let you know what makes sense based on your timeline and order size.
PRODUCTS AND DECORATION
What brands of blanks do you carry?
We stock a wide range of brands including Bella + Canvas, Next Level, Gildan, Port Authority, Richardson, Yupoong, and more. If you have a specific brand or style in mind, let us know and we will do our best to source it.
What is the difference between screen printing and embroidery?
Screen printing uses ink pressed through a stencil directly onto the garment. It is bold, vibrant, and ideal for large designs on tees, hoodies, and flat surfaces. Embroidery stitches your design directly into the fabric using thread. It is clean, premium, and best suited for structured items like hats, polos, and jackets. Not sure which is right for you? Tell us what you are making and we will point you in the right direction.
What products can you decorate?
T-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks, polos, hats, beanies, jackets, aprons, bags, and more. If you are not sure whether we can decorate a specific item, just ask.
Can I bring my own garments for decoration?
In some cases yes. Reach out with details about what you have and we will let you know if it works with our process.
What colors are available for screen printing ink?
We can match virtually any color using Pantone standards. When submitting your artwork, include your Pantone colors if you have them. If not, we will do our best to match based on your files.
How large can my print be?
Standard print areas vary by garment and location. A full front chest print is typically up to 12 x 14 inches. We will confirm exact dimensions on your proof before production begins.
TURNAROUND AND DELIVERY
How long does it take to get my order?
Standard turnaround is 7 to 10 business days from proof approval. Rush options are available if you have a tighter deadline. Always let us know your event or need-by date upfront so we can plan accordingly.
Do you offer rush orders?
Yes. Rush turnaround is available depending on our current production schedule. Let us know your deadline in your quote request and we will confirm whether we can hit it and what the rush fee looks like.
Do you ship or is pickup only?
Both. We offer local pickup at our Austin location and can ship anywhere in the US. Shipping costs are calculated based on order size and destination and will be included in your quote.
What is your address for pickup?
We are located at 1834 Ferguson Lane, Suite 900, Austin, TX 78754. We will coordinate a pickup time with you once your order is complete.
What happens if my order arrives and something is wrong?
We stand behind our work. If there is a production error on our end, we will reprint or re-embroider the affected pieces at no charge. Reach out within 5 business days of receiving your order and we will make it right.
LIVE EVENTS
What is live embroidery and screen printing?
We bring our equipment to your event and decorate pieces on the spot while your guests watch. It is part brand activation, part experience, and something your guests will actually remember. Hats, tees, jackets, whatever fits your event.
How far in advance do I need to book a live event?
We recommend booking at least 3 to 4 weeks out for most events. For large festivals or multi-day activations, the earlier the better. We do occasionally take last minute bookings depending on availability so reach out even if your date is close.
Do you bring the garments or do we supply them?
We can handle blank inventory sourcing as part of your event package or work with garments you provide. We will confirm the details during the booking process.
How many pieces can you produce per hour at a live event?
It depends on the complexity of the design and decoration type. Embroidery averages around 10 to 15 pieces per hour. Screen printing can move significantly faster depending on setup. We will give you a realistic production estimate based on your event specifics.
Do you travel outside of Austin?
Yes. We have done events across Texas and are open to out of state bookings for the right event. Travel fees apply outside of the Austin metro area.
What is the minimum for a live event booking?
Live events are typically priced as a package rather than per piece. Most bookings start at a 2 hour minimum. Submit your event details through our booking form and we will send you a custom quote.
PRICING AND PAYMENT
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on product type, quantity, number of print colors or stitch count, and decoration placement. Generally the more you order, the lower the per-piece cost. We include all pricing in your quote upfront with no hidden fees.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. We require a 50% deposit to begin production on your order. The remaining balance is due before pickup or shipment.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, ACH bank transfer, and business checks for qualifying orders.
Do you offer pricing breaks for large orders?
Yes. Quantity pricing kicks in at various thresholds depending on the product and decoration type. Your quote will reflect the best price for your order size.
Do you work with nonprofits or schools?
We love working with schools, teams, and nonprofits. Reach out and let us know about your organization and we will do what we can on pricing.
